Reflections has been a staple arts program in many schools for 50 years. Through the efforts of our Local PTAs, millions of students have found a creative outlet in the areas of dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography, and visual arts.
With positive recognition as the focus of this program, rather than competition, students of all ages and abilities can experience the benefits of creative expression and help in finding their own voice in telling their unique story.
Started in 1969 by Mary Lou Anderson, then Colorado PTA President, Reflections has grown to be one of the largest nationwide programs of its kind, with more than 200,000 students participating annually.
We are looking forward to continuing this program at WCE. We are so excited to see what our Rangers will create! Follow the steps below to participate:
1.) Make sure at least one person in your household is a PTA member for the current school year. You can join here.
2.) Download the entry form here, or pick up a copy at the front desk. Also be sure to check out the full program rules here.
3.)Think about the theme: 'Look Within', and how you want to illustrate it through one or more of the mediums (dance, literature, film, photography, visual arts, music). Get to work creating!
4.) Turn in your entry the mornings of Oct 28-31st from 7:35-8:00 am in the front area of the school. We will have a table set up to receive your art. You must have the official entry form completed to accompany your art piece. All entries must be received by 8:00 am on Oct. 31, 2019 to be eligible for judging.
WCE PTA will host our campus contest on November 1, 2019. Guest judges from our community will be on campus to score and recognize our entries. Top entries will have a chance to move on to the Katy PTA contest (district), Texas PTA (state), and National PTA level recognition contests.
All entries will be a part of our campus recognition ceremony and reception in the spring where we will display and celebrate our Rangers’ art.
